Routes is an app project that came to shape through the exploration of transit issues in Toronto. My focus was dedicated to finding a solution that would provide travellers with more ease of travel, particularly via necessary trip information, such as detours, accidents, and delays and being delivered those messages in real-time through crowd-sourced feeds. I identified through conducting user interviews that a major problem lies in the lack of access to these types of alerts prior to or during travel. What we often encounter is stress or—on the other unfortunate side of the scale—chaos during daily commutes because of this.
Failures happen, but what Routes strives for is better, faster, more reliable user-driven information to be accessible to the public during travel, ultimately leading to a more-informed and prepared community as a whole.
